Our story

Katerina and Vitor met in Savannah, GA, USA in 2014 while Katerina was studying Advertising and Vitor was in the design/English exchange program at SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design). After meeting on a dating app, they had their first date in New Orleans Square near downtown Savannah. Despite the slight language and cultural barriers, their friendship and love grew.

Throughout the seven years they have been together their relationship has experienced many geographic changes, with Katerina in the U.S. and Vitor in Brazil. Throughout it all, however, they have showed that when you love someone you can conquer any border or distance to be together and have fun—together Kat and Vitor have traveled most of the United States, Europe, and parts of South America.

The Proposal

In 2020, Katerina and Vitor had planned a trip to visit Greece in the summer. However, due to the pandemic and travel restrictions, Vitor was not able to reach Greece while Katerina had already arrived and was waiting for him. Despite the disappointment of having to cancel a trip that they had planning for months, they were both determined to see each other not matter what and decided to find a way to meet somewhere else in Europe.

After searching for destinations that were open to all travelers, they met in Split, Croatia to enjoy a summer trip by the sparkling Adriatic Sea. While in Croatia, Katerina and Vitor visited the island of Hvar and rented a boat for two days. Katerina had no idea that Vitor was planning to propose on this part of the trip. While on the only boat anchored at the famous Red Rocks of Hvar on one perfect warm afternoon with the surrounding turquoise waters sparkling from the sun, Vitor proposed to Katerina and she said “Yes!” The moment was emotional and full of joy after the couple had to deal with the stress of finding a way to see each other during the middle of a pandemic.

Katerina and Vitor have always known that no matter how many miles were between them or however many days they had been apart, they always wanted to be together for the rest of their lives.
